Current Date/Time: May 16, 2007, 12:04PM
My Current Location: Storm Lake, IA

The re-run of quiet weather continues…

Outlook for this weekend/early next week…
12z GFS from this morning still painting a possible chance of severe weather Sunday through Wednesday, with best chance likely on Sunday. Low over NE WY with apparent warm front extending through SD back towards IA might bring a chance for some storms. Shortwave at 500mb will be an added bonus as that is featured over northern TX Sunday evening and ejects out into KS Monday morning. Also, a cold front on the front range of the Rockies will be a trigger for some storms as well.

Going into Monday through Wednesday, warm front retreats northward/dissipates and thunderstorms likely will be focused in western NE/KS/TX along cold front (maybe a dryline?). The shortwave continues to move NE into eastern NE by Monday evening, then up towards the Twin Cities by Tuesday morning. Overall, action on Monday and Tuesday will be associated along a cold front.

Right now, I feel like I am trying to will this system to happen, but will be interesting to watch short term models as they start to get into this time frame in about a day.
