TWISTEX Status for Thursday: Go; ISU, Denver, MN all go...will be heading for high risk area...
I haven't looked back yet, but appears that the thunderstorms over NE/SE SD last evening did indeed die out. Already some storms trying to fire in SW IA with possible tornado watch shortly for central/eastern IA per MD discussion. Cold front is beginning to move into IA this morning, but not through SLB as strong southerly winds prevail.
Will be trying to figure out what I missed yesterday that made me think IA/southern WI and IL would be main concern. I am still puzzled on tornado threat as directional shear just doesn't look outstanding. EAX/La Crosse is along same lines highlighting wind as main concern over tornadoes. I still feel there is a chance of a derecho, but will evaluate in about 45 minutes/post 11:15ish?
If you're around and want to discuss, IM ichatsorge or weather21man (both AIM accounts)
